Sussex Star

Sussex Stars are a cheaper and more versatile alternative to the pure breed, Light Sussex. This particular hybrid looks very similar to the Light Sussex which is classed as a dual purpose chicken. Although the Sussex Star is not a dual purpose chicken and was primarily bred for laying, as they can lay up to and over 260 light brown eggs in their first year.

They have been bred from pure breeds: Rhode Island White and a Light Sussex. They are white with with black tail feathers and a black plumage around their neck. This breed is yet another friendly and docile chicken with will more than be suited to be a "urban chicken"

As mentioned, a Sussex Star lays a light brown egg. Here is a picture of an egg from a Sussex Star.
